We cordially invite you to the exhibition of the artist Nikola Kopp Lourková: Option.

The exhibition 'Option' by painter Nikola Kopp Lourková offers a deep insight into the unstoppable flow of time. Her paintings show a progressive breakdown of narrative, an analysis and subsequent recomposition of the story. This leads to surreal paintings that question whether the given moment has been spent in a meaningful way and whether we are satisfied with our own choices. It explores how our past decisions and some missed moments affect our present as well as our future.

The artist expresses her ideas through dynamic geometrical figures, which may appear cold or mechanical in some ways, but they hold a strong emotional energy. Thanks to this synthesis, one can feel a very intense tension or urgency of the paintings and also can sense an effort to communicate the pictured situation.

The blue colour, which Kopp Lourková uses widely in the walls and floor of her paintings, symbolizes the horizon between the sky and the ocean. That mysterious place that evokes a sense of infinity. Just like the scenes in the paintings – they are captured in a place where time has paused for a moment but they also cycle into infinity at the same moment.

The painter Nikola Kopp Lourková (*1996) is a graduate of the AAAD in Prague (Studio of Intermedia Confrontation led by Jiří David and Studio of Painting I led by Jiří Černický). In addition to her own artistic work, she is actively involved in gallery work practice (Cifra Gallery, Bohemian Switzerland).
